11 Stunning Game Of Thrones Filming Locations In Girona, Spain
Girona, Spain is my favorite place in all of Catalonia and a dream destination for any Game of Thrones fan. During Season 6 of the show, this charming medieval city transformed into both Westeros and Essos, primarily doubling as the filming location for King’s Landing and Braavos, respectively. Even years later, it's hard not to imagine Arya Stark sprinting past or Jaime Lannister making an imposing entrance while wandering old town. Visiting Girona truly feels like traversing Seven Kingdoms and beyond so join me as I take you through the 11 Stunning Game of Thrones Filming Locations In Girona, Spain:
Girona Cathedral as the Great Sept of Baelor
Girona Cathedral, with its jaw-dropping staircase, doubled as the Great Sept of Baelor in King’s Landing during Season 6. This is where Jaime Lannister confronts the High Sparrow in a scene brimming with tension and that ultimately leads to the wildfire explosion that kills Queen Margaery Tyrell. Standing at the foot of the Baroque stairs, I could practically hear the clinking of armor and Jaime’s defiant voice echoing off the stone walls.
Try to visit in the early morning when the light filters beautifully over the façade, and the crowds are minimal.
Address: Pl. de la Catedral

Arab Baths as the Braavos Bath House
The Arab Baths are as atmospheric in real life as they were on screen, where Arya Stark trained (and sparred) with the Waif during her Faceless Men journey in Braavos. Walking through the dimly lit interior, I felt like I’d stumbled onto Arya’s secret training ground. The architecture, with its domed roof and columns, feels like stepping back in time.
