What To Wear In Belize: A Shoppable Packing List
Belize is hot, humid, and bursting with adventure, from snorkeling in the Belize Barrier Reef to trekking through ancient Mayan ruins and lounging on sun-drenched cayes. Packing the wrong thing can mean overheating, mosquito bites, or feeling unprepared for the mix of water, jungle, and coastal activities.
After visiting here a few years ago, I know what works in Belize. Whether you’re swimming through the Actun Tunichil Muknal Cave, sipping rum punch in Placencia, or climbing the Xunantunich ruins, this capsule wardrobe is designed to keep you cool, comfortable, and ready for every adventure. Every piece is lightweight, breathable, and versatile enough to be worn more than once, leaving room in your bag for essentials like reef-safe sunscreen, bug spray, and a dry bag for all the water-based excursions you'll want to take.
The Packing List (Sneak Peek!)
Here are two looks I highly recommend packing for Belize:
Snorkeling and diving
The Belize Barrier Reef is a world-class snorkeling and diving destination with colorful marine life, coral formations, and crystal-clear waters.
Opt for a well-fitting swimsuit and a breezy cover-up that you can move easily in for boat tours and water activities. Mineral sunscreen and sunglasses will ensure you’re protecting your skin and the reef. And you may be tempted to bring fun sandals, but water shoes or sandals with a grip are imperative for slippery boat docks and decks.
Secret Tip: Do your best to keep your belongings safe from any water incidents with a waterproof dry bag!

Island adventures
If you’re spending time on Ambergris Caye or Caye Caulker, expect a laid-back atmosphere where swimsuits and breezy outfits are the norm.
Accessories like the wide-brim hat and sandals or slip-on shoes will ensure you’re prepared for anything from town shopping adventures and to relaxing near the water.
Secret Tip: Golf carts are the main way to get around on Ambergris Caye, so wear something comfortable that won’t fly up in the wind!

For your next island adventure, I love the thought of pairing…
